Gordon Brown: I believe in a fair and democratic electoral system – David Cameron: I believe in sneaking in through the back door with Nick Clegg.

Prime Minister David Cameron to oppose theĀ referendumĀ on electoral change from first past the post to the alternative vote on may 2011.

It comes after Gordon Brown and the Labour Party suggested to change the electoral system to the potential alternative vote.

In my opinion the alternative vote is good, it is fair and is more democratic than the current system. On may 6th (UK General Election) I my parents would have voted for Labour 1st Liberal Democrats 2nd and it would have made me and my parents feel like the electoral process was working in a way that was fairer and more democratic.

It needs to change, it is old and doesn’t work in the way it should in the 21st century.

I would back the change from FPTP to Alternative vote in May 2011.
