I’ve read that a significant number of NHS nurses and other NHS health workers were not born in the UK. I couldn’t find an accurate statistic, but I’m sure it’s a significant number based on various news articles and reports I’ve read (if I find the statistics I’ll update this post).
What happens if we halt immigration today as the BNP and UKIP pledge in their recent election manifestos, the BNP even go one step further and want to ‘persuade’ foreigners (through financial reward) to leave?
We get a shortage of trained nurses and other health professionals in NHS hospitals and we all suffer.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a poor situation successive governments have put the UK in with not providing enough training in many sectors of industry to meet today’s and future needs.
Whoever wins the next general election will inherit a relatively poorly trained British work force that even if the next government does everything it possibly can to train enough people for the future, we’ll still need highly trained foreign workers in the short term (short term being decades).
Any political party that pledges to halt immigration (BNP and UKIP) are committing economic suicide and reversing immigration (BNP) would be even worse for our economy and nations health!
We need serious controls on immigration, IMO current immigration policy is not strong enough, we should only allow workers to enter who benefit the UK. Why would we not want more highly trained workers like nurses, doctors, dentists etc.. entering the UK to boost our economy and with these examples our health?

The recent study by the LSE shows that the EU A8 economic migrant workers put in more than they take out. They are 60 per cent less likely to claim benefits, and 30 per cent less likely to claim social housing.
The immigrants prior to the A8 economic migration, also showed by the IPPR study, put in more than they took out.
Thats life.

Halting Immigration Would be Economic Suicide for the UK!
If we stopped illegal immigration (those who cross more than 1 safe border are classed as illegal immigrants) would that be economic suicide is the question. If the illegal immigrants are looking for work why are they coming to Britain? surely Japan, China, India and Taiwan are where they should be heading that where all the work is. The reason they come here is because they aren’t looking for work they are looking for free money from our ridiculously soft benefits system paid for by us taxpayers. stop illegal immigrants, stop asylum seekers vote BNP

Have you heard yourself? You’re showing yourself up! I completely agree there do need to be more tighter controls on illegal immigrants and unskilled immigrants ( which are predominantly EU residents) however the skilled immigrants who benefit our economy without claiming benefits etc literally dragged us through the recession and this is the thanks we give them? Vote BNP? They’re just a lot of uneducated, ignorant idiots and people who vote for them will be the down fall of our economy! Next time why don’t you have a think before you form such a strong opinion on something you CLEARLY lack so much knowledge of!
