UK General Election 2010

According to the UK Green Party website the Green Party will try to achieve the following if they gain power at the 2010 general election:

CJ366 The Green Party calls for the repeal of the Vagrancy Act 1824 because it is open to abuse by police and government. It discriminates against homeless people and wrongly labels them as criminals when their plight is a social problem.

Restriction, Detention and other Punitive Measures

CJ370 In some cases it will be necessary to place restrictions upon offenders to prevent re-offending, and in some of these cases to hold them in detention.

CJ371 Courts will have power to impose restrictions, for example by requiring offenders to report at stated intervals, or disqualifying them from practising certain occupations.

According to the UK Independence Party website UKIP will try to achieve the following if they gain power at the 2010 general election:

EU membership and the Human Rights Act. UKIP believes that only through EU withdrawal and the repeal of the Human Rights Act, with its Continental model of States granting rights rather than the Anglo Saxon model of natural rights, can sensible crime fighting measures be taken.

I would be interested to hear both positive and negative views on UK Independence Party’s EU membership and the Human Rights Act policies in the comments below?

I started this General Election 2010 site June 2009 since it takes sometime (usually 9+ months, like having a baby :)) for the major search engines to rank a new web site well (my business is getting sites ranked high in search engines like Google and Bing).

Currently (August 2009) this site is number 3 in Google (2 when searching UK results only) for “General Election 2010″ and number 12 in Google for “General Election”. Based on these early search engine results there’s a very good chance by the time the Labour Party calls the next general election (probably June 2010) the General Election 2010 site will be doing even better for searches like General Election. This means the site should see quite a lot of visitors searching for information about the UK general election, but currently the site has no real content and I don’t have much free time to create interesting content on all major UK political parties for discussion!

First post on this site, the Local and European Election Results have inspired (scared) me into starting a new WordPress blog, it is so scary that the BNP have gained 2 MEP’s in the European Parliment yesterday, racism is apparently live and well in the UK!
