Disagree totally.. Wrong on every assertion made...

"notes that research shows the designs on tobacco packaging attract children to try smoking" WRONG - No evidence at all that packs "attract" kids. All reputable evidence points the take up of smoking beng related to socio economic factors, educational aspirations, truancy, smoking activity of parents/elder siblings etc. Recent Cancer REsearch UK research showed that teenagers not even aware of the so-called "glitzy" brands of cigarettes.

"is aware that the adoption of plain packaging is supported by a range of experts and international bodies;" WRONG - it is supported by taxpayer funded anti-tobacco experts but wholly rejected as a dangerous leap in the dark by serving and retired police officers, business, trade groups, international chambers of commerce, politicians and many others.

"further notes the survey commissioned by ASH (Action and Smoking on Health) which found that 75 per cent. of the public would support plain packaging..." A poll designed to elicit the answers they wanted run by YOU GOV whose boss is member of ASH board. Half a million people have responded to the consultation rejecting plain packaging. And research has shown that vast majority REJECT plain packaging if it leads to increased numbers of counterfeit cigarettes coing to market.

I could go on but suffice it to say the statements made in this are wholly misleading and/ or wholly inaccurate.

Spot on Jeff.

Perhaps ALL voluntary organisations should now be lobbying the Government to get an award for voluntary workers who have given sterling service to their communities - a medal or other form of recognition, RECIPIENT'S CHOICE - automatically awarded for,say 10 years service with a registered charity.

This would be in addition to individual organisations' internal awards systems as a gesture of thanks from a nation that is increasingly reliant on the efforts of UNPAID VOLUNTEERS.

How many BILLIONS of pounds are saved by the Exchequer through their selfless and dedicated service?

Surely a medal or other form of reward would not be out of place.

Well my friends, we the true Volunteers have again missed out as we are not seen to be worthy of the Queen's Jubilee Medal.
We know that with out us our communities and counties would be stuck without us, it is a shame that the powers that be dont agree.
So we should now but it to bed and get on with what we do so well.

I would like to support this early day motion wholeheartedly The British trade unions face the strictest restrictions in Europe and are on a par with unions in many repressive nations across the globe. We heard these words ten years ago from Tony Blair and they are still true today. It is no wonder that the CBI, IOD and characters like Mr Beecroft want further restrictions, but i urge politicians not to listen to the rantings of a man connected with Wonga which is under investigation by the OFT for possible criminal action, but to consider the views of ordinary people There are 7m such ordinary people in UK unions.
