According to reports Labour’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has launched an investigation after a photograph of a soldier who had, what is described as “an offensive message” written on his kit, appeared in its official magazine.

Apparently the young man’s left kneepad had the message “Get some Paki” written across it; the alleged embarrassment being caused by the image being featured in Soldier magazine alongside a story about new rations for troops.

A spokesman for the MoD said: “An investigation is currently underway to identify the soldier.”

It will be remembered that it was only last year that Prince Harry had to apologise for using “offensive language” in respect of a member of his platoon.

It is further reported that “concerned” MoD officials had the “offensive” message airbrushed from the online edition of Soldier but were unable to do anything about those on sale to the public or some 70,000 sent to serving British troops.

The spokesman for the MoD added: “The Army does not tolerate racist behaviour.

“All those who are found to fall short of the Army’s high standards or who are found to have committed an offence under the Armed Forces Act 2006 are dealt with administratively or through the discipline process.”

The speed with which the MoD launched its investigation into identifying the owner of the offending knee, stands in marked contrast to their  laggardly approach in resolving the issue of insufficient sets of soldiers’ body armour, poor rations, jamming firearms  and other items of deficient and defective kit.

Indeed it is fair to say that the MoD’s commendable swiftness in tackling this outrageous incident fully vindicates their mind boggling sloth in progressing such trivia as securing a replacement for the Army’s next to useless snatch Landrovers or providing decent medical care for our wounded service personnel.

Meanwhile, it’s not the physical safety of a young man who is putting his life on the line day in and day out in the service of this country that’s a matter of concern to the MoD or its political masters in the Labour regime – only what was once scrawled across his kneecap patch!

Is it any wonder this country is becoming the world’s laughing stock?
