Comment on UK Pre-Budget Report 2009 by David.

“I have decided to introduce from today a special one-off levy of 50 per cent on any individual discretionary bonus above £25,000.”

Good, but £25,000 is a high starting figure, that’s almost the average national wage in a bonus! To get a £25,000 bonus you must already be earning way above the average national wage, so quite frankly considering it’s the banking sectors fault for this recession they should pay a lot more.

We all know what will happen, most bonuses will be below £24,999.99 or deferred until the following year!

I bet the government barely gets anything from this one off tax.
