Seems Like He Got What’s Coming to Him – Serves Him for Being Racist

Tory MP Philip Hollobone May Face Criminal Prosecution for claiming he will not talk to constituents who wear the Burqa/Nijab.

Philip Hollobone in one brief sentence not completed his duty to represent the people in his constituency… basically his job.

I hope if he denies to talk to a Muslim wearing the veil that he faces criminal prosecution, gets kicked out of the Tory party and gets a fine or something along those lines.
It is wrong for anyone Tory or not to be so religiously discriminatory, it is just ridiculous.

I hope he loses his place as an MP and all the expenses most Conservatives claims.

I’m listening to David Cameron on BBC3 Dermot Meets David Cameron and realised a Conservative ‘untruth’.

David Cameron is talking about a Big Society (which is total waffle IMO) and said they want to listen to the people and if they gain power after May 6th they’ll bring in the ability for the British people to create petitions that if enough people vote for (5% I believe) the Conservative government will debate the petition in parliament and presumably bring it into power.

Sounds great right.

Are we forgetting the Labour ban of fox hunting?

We’ve had a vote in parliament that banned fox hunting, the Conservatives in the House of Lords tried to block it: which they are not supposed to do (the House of Lords was acting undemocratic) since banning fox hunting was part of the Labour election manifesto and so the Speaker of the House had to use a rarely used power to push the new legislation through!

To traditional Labour voters and those that care about workers rights and the NHS who have voted Labour in the past and are planning to vote Conservative at the general election.

I don’t think Labour’s done a particularly good job in many areas of government, but they do have their successes as well like the NHS and national minimum wage. I accept they could and should have done a much better job.

However, what’s the alternative, an uncaring Tory government! Imagine we’d have never removed the last Tory government and the Conservatives were still in power:

What would the NHS look like today under the Tories after another decade plus of under investment?

Would we have anything like a national minimum wage or would we still be aiming for sweatshop Britain trying to compete on price not quality?

Would barbaric blood sports like fox hunting be banned?

I think you’ll agree a blog post titled “Ask me your questions on the economy” by George Osborne (Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer and Conservative General Election Campaign Coordinator) invites questions on the economy from the British public (such as myself).

I asked a variety of questions in my comment which I include below:

As a Labour voter I know the Conservatives are almost certainly going to be in government after the general election, not happy about it, but that’s politics. Created this site http://www.general-election-2010.co.uk/ as Conservatives in government again concerns me so much!

Since you plan to cut public spending as soon as you take power, how many public sector workers will this send to the unemployment line?

The National Minimum Wage was legislated for by the Labour government ~10 years ago. At the time the Conservative party argued against the national minimum wage on the grounds it would cost the country jobs, businesses would stop investing in Britain because labor costs would be so high.

To date we’ve not seen great job losses (we saw some job loses) due to the national minimum wage and foreign investors and business are still investing in Britain.

I consider the national minimum wage a Labour party success story and I am concerned how the national minimum wage would fair under a Conservative government. Would the conservatives continue to increase the national minimum wage in line with inflation or break the link and overtime make the national minimum wage an irrelevance.

George Osborne has announced that, as part of our plan to Get Britain Working, we will abolish tax on the jobs created by new businesses in the first two years of a Conservative Government.

The Shadow Chancellor said that any new business started in the first two years of a Conservative Government will pay no Employer National Insurance on the first ten employees it hires during its first year.

The tax break will encourage new entrepreneurs and is predicted to generate around 60,000 additional jobs over two years. Clear and simple rules will ensure that the jobs created are genuinely new.

George said that, as well as well as helping more unemployed people more quickly with our Work Programme, we also need businesses to create new jobs for them, and added:

A Conservative Government’s approach to foreign affairs will be based on liberal Conservative principles.

Liberal, because Britain must be open and engaged with the world, supporting human rights and championing the cause of democracy and the rule of law at every opportunity. But Conservative, because our policy must be hard-headed and practical, dealing with the world as it is and not as we wish it were.

We and our allies face our most serious challenges from persistent international terrorism, attempts by Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, and a newly aggressive Russia.

We must recognise that we are much stronger working through NATO, the UN, or the G8 than when acting alone, and that our moral authority is vital to our success.
