The Labour Party won the 2005 UK general election with 35.3% of the popular British vote. The Conservative Party was just a few points behind with 32.3% of the votes, but because of the first past the post voting system, the Labour Party had a significant majority with 356 parliamentary seats (MPs) compared to 198 seats for The Conservative Party.
Just over 4 years on with political scandal after scandal, all political polls point to a Conservative win at the 2010 general election with speculation of a possible Hung Parliament (rare in British politics).

David Cameron wants to take Britain out of the Social Chapter.
The Social Chapter is European law that guarantees basic workers rights. Mrs Thatcher was also opposed to the Social Chapter.
If David Cameron becomes our next Prime Minister in 2010 he plans to remove Britain from the Working Time Directive allowing NHS workers to work 96 hour shifts!!!

And would you care to site this statement, for I think you are going on the back of an unfounded rumour or are just making it up. No Thatcher didn’t oppose the Social chapter she opposed Europe, different things, because someone is against Europe, which a lot of people are, doesn’t mean they oppose everything that comes from Europe.
In actual fact most European laws are small, the Labour government has been the Party that has made most small laws with very little detail into a large emblem of society that is hundreds of pages long and confounds anyone who bothers to read them, making it ultra law instead of the small law it was and defining point after point of useless, unnecessary and unneeded laws.

I’m not voting for Cameron or any of the parties, none of them are decent enough to run this country. British politics needs an overhaul, no more robbing the poor to give to the rich, the people of Britain are united and have had enough of the political system. Many people are choosing to write NO SUITABLE CANDIDATE on thier ballot paper this year.

If you can afford two wars Mr.Cameron then why do you need to cut spending that’s in the public interest. Labour has become a right wing party. Vote for the Liberal Democrats, it’s our last chance.

Mr Cameron, as I beleive, did not place us in Afganistan or Iraq, I beleive that was the labour Party and Tony Blair with Brown. Arguements like that are the reason why the Liberal Democrats aren’t respected, if you think that Cameron wanted us in those wars then I am afraid you are wrong. In fact you sound like the BNP, “The Labour and Conservatives are one party, switching power each time to bring in Poles to actually work,” the Liberal Democrats in any case would not be elected even if that was true.

David Cameron and the Conservatives voted with Labour for the Iraq and the Afghanistan wars, so he did support both wars. Only the Liberal Democrats voted against war.
I don’t agree with Josh’s comments in general.
Labour is not a right wing party, obviously :-)
Even if the Conservatives didn’t vote for both wars they are not so politically naive to say if they win the general election they’ll immediately pull out of Afghanistan no matter what. I’m sure a lot of voters would like the Conservatives to say that though.
If they did (and the other coalition forces left early as well) it would hand Afghanistan back to the Taliban and not only would that be bad for the world, it would mean the sacrifices our troops and other coalition troops have made was for nothing!
We can not allow their sacrifices to be in vain.
We are in a war and we have to see it through to the end and both Labour and the Conservatives understand this.

Sorry Jon, but a vote on the Iraq war was put to parliment and David Cameron did support it (and vote for it), he has said that publicly in the past.
So defending Cameron on a platform of not supporting the Iraq war doesn’t work, having said that I actually agree with the Iraq invasion.

I didn’t say it wasn’t supported, but most people did, and a lot of people, some very right wing people and left wing people believed that Suddam Hussein had weapons of mass destrruction, for a while I believed it.
After that though he has been against it and with the truth about the WMD coming to light then most people have agreed it was an unjust and unfair war, inluding Mr. Cameron and the Conservatives.

“I actually agree with the Iraq invasion”
On the Iraq war I’m torn, in hindsight I don’t think the arguments were strong enough to warrant a war, but it’s easy to say that in hindsight (at the time I supported parliaments decisiveness).
If the intelligence was accurate (and it apparently wasn’t) then there was a very strong argument to do more, but war has got to be the very last option in that type of country: it’s so difficult to win the peoples hearts during a war in those types of countries.
The Iraq war has cost a lot of lives and a lot of money and it’s resulted in even more hatred towards Britain (and the USA) from the Middle East (globally) and instability in the region (we took our attention off of Iran, far bigger threat).
If they (US and British governments) wanted to get rid of Saddam Hussein why didn’t they have him ‘removed’ by a group they wanted in power?
It’s going to takes decades, maybe generations for Iraq to move on from the Iraq war, they will not thank us for their freedom and democracy! I expect long term Iraq will be a better place for Iraqi’s, but it could have been managed much better IMHO.

I think when you are talking about any war things can always be done better, there is no full proof way of making war more painless etc.
If the UN/US/Briton had sponsored some other group to take over that IMO would have been just as bad and create more issues in Briton for the state sponsoring terrorism etc, so there is no real way for any Gov to come out a winner in these types of issues.
Saddam and his family where mass murderers at the end of the day, the political methods, sanctions etc had been tried and failed for many years. The question has to be how long do you just let people like them continue to do things they do without acting?
If they had been left alone for another 5 years lets say how many people in this country would have been screaming at the Government about human rights abuses Saddam was committing on a daily basis?
It’s one of those damned if you do damned if you don’t issues IMO.

Despite who is in goverment we would have never the less gone to I-raq if that is what the country of opportunities -USA wanted. We are allies and i can’t see Cameroon saying no to our Big Brother. Mind you, we were the ones who were the most powerful nation in the world not so long ago and probably went to war more times than anyone else whether it was to protect ourselves or expand and occupy other countries. It is the way of this world which hopefully we can change.

I will be voting UKIP, not because I beleive them to be the best party, but because I am absolutely sick to death of the Labour Party who have passed laws that I don’t agree with, and were passed by Gordon Brown who was not elected. I am not sure about the Conservitives and wonder if they will be any stricter on immigration then the rubbish Labour Party. We were promised so much and told so many lies, that I am not surprised that nobody wants to go out and vote. I am also unhappy at the amount of money that MPs have made out of what should be a devotion to duty, but seems to be a get rich quick plan by most of them. I don’t trust them or like them. I am also upset that at the crime and yob culture that has developed in my area since Labour came to power, and the weak justice system. I want to see less money given to the public sector and more help for the private sector, and public section pensions reduced. I would also love to be out of the EU. So it looks like UKIP are my only choice.

I have to point out a flaw in what you said “Gordon Brown was not elected”:
Actually he was, he was elected as an MP just like any other, the party then elected him leader of the party after Blair stepped down so he in his position of MP and Party leader took the job as Prime Minister that’s the way the system works.
When we have a General Election we are not casting our vote for a Prime Minister we are voting to elect our local MP it’s the party concerned who decided who it’s leader is.

When I removed a lot of the small parties and created the Irish and Scottish polls there was:
Monster Raving Loony Party : ~1,000 votes. The majority of these votes came in over one day and was a joke organised by a forum (at times I think it would be better to delete those votes).
Other parties including Scottish and Irish parties and a lot of small parties (like Legalise Cannabis, National Front etc…) about 600 votes.
At the above point the BNP was still part of the poll. Recently (just over a week or so ago) the BNP was removed as an option and the valid 1,800 BNP votes went to other parties.

I will probably not vote for anyone. I don’t think I can trust any party and not many MP’s. The whole system is imploding. Where is the thought for others in this day and age? Where is the thought for future generations? Why is moeny the be alla nd end all when it shouldn;t have to be. There are too many issues to fight so I am giving up for good after this post
